-Description
The Datejust, Rolex's most famous automatic watch, was created in 1945.
It is widely known as a watch that anyone can recognize at a glance from its distinctive appearance.
The Datejust mechanism, which instantly changes the date at midnight, is considered one of Rolex's three greatest inventions, along with the Oyster case and the self-winding Perpetual mechanism, and the Datejust collection is the culmination of all of them.
Ref.1603 is a vintage model manufactured from the 1960s to the late 1970s.
It looks a bit similar to the same Datejust Ref.1601, but this 1603 has an engine-turned bezel made of stainless steel.
The difference is that the 1601 has a fluted bezel made of white gold.
The engine-turned bezel, which is more finely decorated than the fluted bezel, is somewhere between elegant and sporty.
The fluted bezel is made of white gold, which changes color with age, while the stainless steel bezel is more consistent with the case.
This is a matter of preference.
The case has not been polished in our store, but we believe it was polished before that.
The rounded plexi crytal and the dial with one step down on the outer circumference are also details unique to vintage Datejust.
The dial is a silver dial with sunray finish.
It has turned slightly ivory with age.
The hands and indexes are gold, a very rare combination.
Only 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock part of bar indexes are thicker.
This is one of the details that are not so conspicuous but rarely seen.
In addition, there is a sigma mark on the dial next to SWISS at 6 o'clock.
This is a feature that can be found in watches manufactured by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, and Omega during certain periods of time, but not all of them have it.
Both the hands and dial are still in the tritium luminous coating and show good signs of aging.
The movement is a automatic Cal.1570.
It is a late model with a hack function.
It has high accuracy and durability, having passed the chronometer standard, and is a machine that is easy to maintain, so it can be used with peace of mind.
The bracelet comes with a folded jubilee bracelet 6251H of the same age as the watch.
The number of links is 22, which is long enough, and the droop is small considering the age of the watch.
The watch comes with a warranty paper.
The warranty paper states that the watch was sold in 1975.
In addition to the warranty, the watch comes complete with the inner box, outer box, two tags, booklet, etc.
The watch is in good condition with vintage ageing and is complete with all accessories.

About Complete Service
Complete service, sometime called overhaul is the work of disassembling a mechanical product down to its individual parts, cleaning and reassembling it to bring it closer to its new state of performance.
Roughly speaking, the overhaul procedure is as follows.
1. Separate into case and movement
2. Disassemble the movement
3. Inspection and pre-cleaning of wear condition of each part
4. Wash parts with a special machine
5. Lubrication and assembly
6. Waterproof test
7. Final adjustment and running test.
Some movements are made up of hundreds of parts, but it is a very meticulous process of disassembling them one by one, inspecting them all, cleaning them, and reassembling them.
If you don't overhaul, the oil will deteriorate just like a car, and the risk of wear and damage to parts increases, causing a decrease in accuracy and, in severe cases, not working.
There is also the reason that it will be very expensive to replace parts after they are found to be damaged, so we recommend overhauling once every 2-3 years for economical and long-term use.
About Polishing
Vintage watches have been used for decades, and even the stainless steel used in many watches has rounded corners that were originally sharp, and has many small scratches even though the mirror finish should be beautiful. state.
At Arbitro, some watches are sold with a new finish, based on the idea that you can purchase them in beautiful condition and use them for a long time.
In particular, gold-cased dress watches are finished to bring out the best of the precious metal case.
The watches sold by us that have been given a new finish are shot in very high definition, so you can see that the edges stand out and the light is reflected by the mirror finish.
Also, depending on the case or bracelet, there are cases where multiple finishes such as mirror finish and hairline finish are mixed, but there are not many craftsmen who can distinguish between them and finish them at a high level.
In addition, the “thinness of the case” is also a part that is greatly influenced by the skill of the craftsman.
A watch that has become thinner and has thinner lugs is far from its original design, and the appearance becomes unbalanced.
It is a very precise work that brings the case closer to the original finish by eliminating scratches and dents while reducing the thickness of the case to the utmost limit.
Of course, there are cases where it is better to use the watch as it is, in order to emphasize the history of the watch and its original condition.
We look at each watch and judge whether it is best to finish it before selling it.
