-Description

Patek Philippe is a watchmaker founded in Geneva in 1839. The company makes watches without any compromise by utilizing its unparalleled quality and technical expertise.

Along with Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet, it is known as the Big Three, one of the world's three major brands, and it is no exaggeration to say that it has established a special position among them.

In addition to being one of the world's finest manufactures, the extremely small number of watches produced makes this brand synonymous with luxury watches. The independence of being a family-run business and the reliability of knowing that all watches can be repaired create value as an asset that can be passed down through generations.

This watch is the Calatrava reference 3896. It is a model that appeared around 1980, and is from the same generation as the 3796, 3919, and 3923.

This reference has a large case size of 33mm and a unique case shape. There are two types of dials with the same reference number, this dian and white guilloche dial.

Among them, this watch is a gem that comes with a very rare white gold case, ivory dial, and box and papers.

The dial is a transparent ivory. This is a standard dial for Calatrava. It is milky white in color, but depending on the angle, it can look grayish.

The hands are a standard combination of alpha hands, short bar indexes and a sub-second. The dial and hands are in very good condition with no peeling or corrosion of the paint.

Additionally, there is a σ (sigma) mark on either side of SWISS at the 6 o'clock position on the dial.

This is a designation seen on watches made by manufacturers that belonged to an organization called APRIOR from around 1973 to around 2000, and indicates that precious metals such as gold were used for the dial and indexes.

"High quality gold It was added for the purpose of "indicating that the watch is Swiss made." This feature can be seen on watches from five companies: Rolex, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, and Omega, but not on all watches from that period.

For this reason, Sigma dials are considered highly rare among collectors.

The movement used is the hand-wound Cal. 215. It is a small movement measuring 10 lume (approximately 22.5 mm) in size and was introduced around 1978 as the successor to the Cal. 23-300.

It is a very classic, thin, hand-wound movement that also has modern performance capabilities, and is still used in current models such as the Ref. 5196, even after more than 40 years.

The box, guarantee paper, and service paper are included. The code on the guarantee indicates that it was shipped from workshop in 1987. The binder case also comes with a service history record with the serial number.
